Cloudy water may be caused by poor filtration, low sanitizer residual, build-up of undesirable compounds or poor water balance.

To improve filtration Instant Filter Cleaner should be used to remove oil, grease and other debris from spa filters. Spa Clarifier will clear cloudy water by helping the filter collect floating particles.

Check the sanitizer residual frequently and if low use Stabilised Chlorine Granules. Spa Essentials Non Chlorine Shock will remove unwanted compounds from the water and restores water sparkle. Hight total alkalinity, pH and or calcium hardness can also cause cloudy water.

Scale is a result of excess dissolved calcium in the water. It becomes unstable in solution because of high pH in hot water and precipitates out as calcium carbonate. Use Spa Scale Inhibitor on a weekly basis to prevent scaling and cloudy water.

Foaming is fairly common due to lotions, cosmetics, etc. Use Spa Foam Reducer to eliminate existing foam from the spa surface.

Algae growth in spas is fairly uncommon, unless the spa is outdoors and not used often.

To prevent algae growth, maintain the sanitizer level at the level recommended for your sanitizer type and shock when needed.

Metals in the water are the most typically common cause of stains. Spa Essentials Spa Scale Inhibitor may lighten or remove fresh stains. Prevent stains before they occur by adding Spa Essentials Spa Scale Inhibitor weekly.

Skin and eye irritation can be caused by a number of things. If the pH is high or low irritation is probable.

Use Spa Essentials pH Increaser or pH Reducer as needed. A high sanitizer level may cause the skin to feel dry or irritated. Maintain the sanitizer at the recommended level for your sanitizer type.

Copper may erode from the spa’s circulation system and/or dissolve into the water due to high velocity and/or low pH, low total alkalinity and low calcium hardness. This can show up as green or greenish-blue water. The source of your water may also contain metals such as copper, iron or manganese.

To prevent these from depositing out on the spa’s surface and causing ugly stains, use Spa Essentials Spa Scale Inhibitor. Draining the spa may be necessary in severe cases of dissolved metal.

Does your spa have a slimy white substance on the surface that looks like tissue paper? Does it look like the is spaghetti floating on it ?

To remove bacteria in a spa, first drain the spa completely. Refill with fresh water up to the jets. Shock the spa with 3-4 times the normal amount of Stabilised Chlorine Granules.

Allow the spa to circulate for 2-3 hours. While running the circulation, remove the filter(s) and soak in a solution of approximately 2 teaspoons of Stabilised Chlorine Granules to 10 gallons of water.

Drain spa again, refill with water, rebalance and sanitize
